I. OUR MISSION:
DYNAMITE VOLLEYBALL CLUB, a member of Southern Region Volleyball Association (SRVA) and USA Volleyball, strives to provide a positive and instructional atmosphere intended to strengthen volleyball skills, foster enjoyment of the sport, and offer opportunities for competitive team play.
As an organization we believe every player and coach should strive to be a better player and better coach each time there is a learning opportunity. This belief includes volleyball fundamentals training, a positive and encouraging attitude that helps the team, and a determination to succeed.
If you have questions, please contact Coach Heather Minnis at [email protected]
II. PRACTICE
Practice is essential. Players should attend practices and have a strong desire to learn the sport of volleyball in order to learn the skills necessary to play at a high level. Therefore, each player must attend practices consistently and give her best at practices and tournaments in order to achieve this goal.
*All players should wear the appropriate color practice t-shirt for all practices. For 2024-25 practices--
1st practice of the week= BLUE
2nd practice of the week= PINK
* Players who miss practices are subject to reduced playing time at tournaments. This will be determined by the coach and the Director.
*A player who will miss a practice must inform her coach prior to the missed practice.
III. Player's Role as a member of the Team
Whether you are a starter or a substitute, all players and parents should understand that you/they are important to the team and that your/their attitudes and actions will affect the player, her team, and our club.
*Any player exhibiting behavior "unbecoming to a Dynamite Volleyball Player," including but not limited to inappropriate words, actions, and/or behavior is subject to reduced practice/playing time at tournaments or dismissal from the team.
IV. FEES
Club fees allow for player training and being a part of a team. However, the fee does not "give" a player playing time on the court during tournaments. Playing time is earned through practices, positive contributions to the team, and the player's ability to consistently demonstrate skills necessary for her team to work well together and achieve team goals.
V. Open gym/tryout sign-ups
All players wishing to play travel volleyball must tryout for a team. Players must sign-up on-line. All participants wishing to tryout must 1.) sign-up on line, 2.) pay on-line, 3.) print and sign an assumption of risk form, and 4.) register with SRVA on-line to participate for DVC.
Printed and signed forms should be brought to the tryout attended.
1. The DVC Travel fee for 2024-2025 includes practice, tournament participation fees, skills clinic(s), practice facilities fees, equipment, coaches, t-shirts, 2 jerseys, AND shorts.
Not included--playing time and travel expenses.
2. Fees paid to the club are non-refundable except due to a season-ending injury or illness before the first scheduled tournament has been entered.
3. An athlete will not be allowed to participate in practices or tournaments until fees are paid in full.
VI. Parent/Player Info and Concerns
*Parents should never approach a coach or club director regarding playing time. Coaches will not discuss playing time.
* 24 hour rule--If a parent(s) feels that he or she must address a team situation, they are permitted to contact the coach or club director 24 hours after the last match of a tournament to set up an appointment to discuss the issue.
*The DVC fee does not "give" a player playing time on the court during tournaments.
*If a player believes that there is a problem or issue, the player should discuss it with her coach at an appropriate time. Her coach will be able to offer her feedback for help with the situation and/or ways to improve with skills.
*At no time should a parent approach the coach during a match or at a tournament with a problem.
* If there is a problem in which the parent feels the player and coach were not able to resolve, then the parent may request a meeting with the player and coach. If the issue is not resolved, the parent or coach may request a meeting with a club Director. The club Director will then make the final decision.
VII. TOURNAMENTS--LOCAL & TRAVEL
All players are expected to participate in ALL scheduled tournaments. Only exceptions--After the tournament schedule is posted in late November/beginning of December--
(1) If the player/family already has a scheduled event planned, the player or parent must let the coach know about the conflict by January 1.
(2) If the player plays a winter/spring school sport, the player should notify her travel coach of ANY POSSIBLE conflicts as soon as school schedule is released.
(3) If the player has an unforeseen illness/injury.
It is important that players, parents, and coaches represent themselves and Dynamite Volleyball Club with good character. Each member of our club (players, parents, and coaches) is expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship in the stands and on the court toward players, coaches, refs, spectators, and parents.
Also, Players and coaches are expected to be dependable referees/scorekeepers/line judges and to act respectfully when on and off the court.
*It is important to check-in with your coach and arrive at the tournament site at the time decided by your coach.
*A player should never leave the tournament site without permission from her coach.
*At the tournament site, players should not leave the playing area unless another teammate is with them.
*While officiating, playing, or warming up, players are not allowed to have cell-phones or other electronic devices and headsets/ear buds. Do not walk around using electronic devices.
* All players should remain at the tournament site until your team has finished its officiating responsibilities.
*Any player exhibiting behavior "unbecoming to a Dynamite Volleyball Player" is subject to reduced playing time at tournaments or dismissal from the team.
Dynamite Volleyball Club has some teams that travel regularly to play in tournaments, has some teams where travel is limited to a few events per season, and some teams where there is no travel other than local travel to and from our own area. DVC prohibits all types of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing, all as described in the USA Volleyball SafeSport Handbook. DVC has established policies to guide our travel, minimize one on-one interactions and reduce the risk of abuse or misconduct. Adherence to these travel guidelines will increase player safety and improve the player’s experience while keeping travel a fun and enjoyable experience.
VIII. SOCIAL MEDIA
While officiating, playing, or warming up, players are not allowed to have cell-phones or other electronic devices and headsets/ear buds. Do not walk around using electronic devices.
Dynamite Volleyball Club (the “Club") recognizes the prevalence of electronic communication and social media in today’s world. Many of our student-athletes use these means as their primary method of communication. While the Club acknowledges the value of these methods of communication, the Club also realizes that there are associated risks that must be considered when adults use these methods to communicate with minors. The content and intent of all electronic communications must adhere to the USA Volleyball Code of Conduct regarding Athlete Protection.
With respect to electronic communications, a simple test that can be used in most cases is whether the electronic communication with athletes is Transparent, Accessible and Professional.
Transparent: All electronic communication between coaches and athletes are to be transparent. Your communication should not only be clear and direct, but also free of hidden meanings, innuendo and expectations. Accessible: All electronic communication between coaches and athletes should be considered a matter of record and part of the Club’s records. Whenever possible, include another coach or parent in the communication so there is no question regarding accessibility. Professional: All electronic communication between a coach and an athlete shall be conducted professionally as a representative of the Club. This includes word choice, tone, grammar and subject matter that model the standards and integrity of a staff member.
IX. SRVA INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY FOR TOURNAMENTS:
It is the decision of each coach and/or club whether their team should attempt to travel to a tournament in bad weather. However, it is the decision of the individual tournament director whether or not to cancel a tournament due to bad weather. Teams deciding not to attend a tournament that has not been cancelled will not receive a refund of their tournament entry fee. In addition, those teams must notify the Region prior to the tournament that they will not participate or they may be subject to further monetary sanctions.
Practice and tournaments will continue scheduled as planned unless Director decides practice/tournaments should be cancelled. Your coach will send you a text if your practice is cancelled/rescheduled. However, It is ALWAYS the PARENT'S DISCRETION as to whether a player should attend practices/tournaments where inclement weather is involved.
